Last night I held a staff meeting for the folks that you see wielding wine here at Clifford’s. I just want to leave a little note telling all of you how hard these guys work for all of us. In addition to being reliable and honorable, they are all fun, artistic, intelligent and friendly. So, kudos and big thanks to Amanda, Chantelle, Isaac, Jen, Jon, and Kim. Love y’all!
We have around 700 people signed up for our mailing list (you can be so lucky by visiting our website and signing up, too) and these are some of the lovely things they had to say. With people writing in who haven’t even been here yet to say nice things, you’d think I bribed them with a free glass of wine or something! Here goes:
I love Clifford’s because they are SO hill country cool! They do crazy fun things like hosting movie nights where we get to dress up to match the characters and have great food and interesting drinks to match the theme. I also love coming here because almost every time I do, I end up with great stories for MY blog (http://hillcountryliving.blogspot.com). Ok, my husband and I have never been to Clifford’s (if you can believe it), but YOU are too cute with your emails and there is just TOO much going on that we are missing!! I have been getting your regular emails for about 6 months now and am always impressed with your enthusiasm, spunk, and how FUN you make everything sound…we are sooooooooo missing out! So, we are absolutely going to make it out there soon and see what this place is all about! I know I have no whimsical stories or goofy pictures of us living it up there, but maybe that free glass of wine would be a perfect way to get us hooked on our new favorite place…hehe. :) We look forward to meeting you and the whole gang soon!

I love Clifford’s because of the awesome people that own the place
and the wonderful staff and the delicious food and the great wine
selection and of course Real Ale(my favorite beer)! It’s like home

Sandy and I live in Austin, so we have to drive past a lot of other watering holes, restaurants and wine bars to get to Clifford’s. But, the drive is beautiful, the people are welcoming and every visit is a mini-vacation from the hectic pace of daily life. To share a bottle of wine on the deck or in the Library is to treat myself to a ruby red massage and I always leave sated and relaxed.
I hope some of Jane has rubbed off!

I love Clifford’s because it is exactly what a wine bar should be. A beautiful, quiet place with nice people getting together to do the simple things that make life worth living. It’s one of the few places in America I have found that evokes the essence of what we Germans call “Gemutlichkeit” (Sorry, no “umlauts” on my computer….)
